I GOT MITRA PREGNANT!

DID YOU KNOW? "I want to go to there" is something that Tina Fey's three-year-old daughter came up with.

APRIL FOOL'S! That was actually a Mother's Day prank I played on Sam's Mom in 2005. I remember it clearly. I was in my 5.60 (Physical Chemistry) discussion section and my self-deprecating TA was really excited about explaining to us why rubber bands get hot when they expand. It involved A, and if you know anything about thermodynamics you know that things are always pretty dire when A is involved. I don't even remember what A stands for. I think I always just called it funky free energy, or something less printable.

Anyway, MIT engineers don't really ask questions in recitation, they just sit there and then ask TAs to do homework for them in office hours, so nobody cared that much. I was kinda falling asleep because my mind wandered a lot this semester. The TA suddenly pointed at me and was like "You. What do you think about whether this quantity goes up or down? You don't really care, you just want to get some lunch." He was so self-deprecating! I was like, "No, I just wanna go send a Mother's Day card to Sam's Mom." He told me to also send her flowers because it wouldn't get there in time. Then I saw Mitra in the student center and we decided to buy a happy grandmother's day card and both sign it.

Sam and Mitra are dating.

Speaking of TAing, Colin 2 and I were both given an Outstanding TA award for our work in ChemE 140 last semester. I know that I say "I'm awesome" implicitly at least a few times in every blog entry, but I hope you'll still excuse the fact that I'm saying it explicitly in this one. Now we are eligible for a $500 prize, but first we have to write a one-page essay describing a teaching challenge we faced, the methodology we used to solve it, and the way in which we assessed whether it was effective or not. I am thinking of submitting this blog entry.

Or maybe I could just pretend I came up with an idea as excellent as Ms Rubin's middle school science "bailout package."

Ms Rubin is awesome.

LOL
i WISH you got her preggers, you two would have beautiful/crazy children.

btw I love Tina Fey to the death and commonly quote her "i want to go to there" line, I think I love her even more now that I know her baby came up with it

So does this mean you actually wrecked the car? Oh right, April Fools. Whew!

Happy Birthday, Mitra!

Everyone please be careful.
