It is Christmas Day and so far I have gotten some pretty great presents. First of all, Aunt Rachel got me a mandoline. That is a really good gift, because it is something I will use but would never buy for myself. Homemade potato chips, here I come. I also got a set of pictures that Brett took the Pixar and Friends holiday party, which I assembled into this lovely animated GIF (because it is 2003 and I need an avatar for my internet message board). The GIF kind of describes my excitement upon receiving a mandoline.

I also got to help out Sam's Mom at her new job as an undercover CIA operative, and it turned out to be more fun than you would think. Here is the transcript of an argument we had because there was a little green on my potato chip:
"And you remember that one episode of Mork and Mindy where they're escaping from the evil people... the Necrotons, and they get sucked into a vortex into the past?"
"No, not really."
[n.b. -- they are actually escaping from Kalnik, the Neptunian, and are sent to the past via Mork's malfunctioning time-travel shoes]
"Well, I remember I was crying, and you told me that everything would be okay in the next episode."
"Okay."
"And guess what! It was the last episode of the series because it was supposed to be a cliffhanger but the show got cancelled! So Mork and Mindy are still stuck there in the past."
"Oh, well, that's terrible."
"You lied to me! You just made something up to placate me!"
"Well, you were very upset, like that time you saw on TV that the sun was going to explode, and I didn't realize that it was the last episode of the show. And you know what? I think there was a reunion special."
"You're doing it again!"
I also discovered, mostly because Liza With A Z came on TV, that Sam's Mom, before she became Sam's Mom when I was in high school, used to call herself "Sammy's Mammy." Ladies and gentlemen: Liza Minnelli.
